March 5, 2008 by Luis Martinez
Cambridge, MA – The Harvard Republican Club (HRC) congratulates Senator John McCain on effectively securing the GOP Nomination by surpassing the required 1191 delegates through his primary victories yesterday. The HRC looks forward to Senator McCain uniting the Republican Party as well as the nation in his campaign to win the presidency.
Senator McCain has set himself apart as an honest, courageous, and honorable public servant who is dedicated to giving of himself for the good of America. Senator McCain, a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, served as a naval aviator in the Vietnam War, where he was captured and held as a prisoner of war for five and a half years. After his release he continued to serve in the navy until 1981. He was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1982, then to the Senate in 1986. He has dedicated his entire adult life to serving the United States of America, and the HRC looks forward to his continuing service when he is elected President.
The HRC is excited for the opportunity for conservatives, moderates, and independents to unite in their enthusiastic support for Senator McCain. Senator McCain’s dynamic leadership on increasing America’s prosperity by keeping taxes low, reducing earmarks and wasteful spending in the federal government, and promoting free trade policies is unmatched. His experience, knowledge, and conviction on keeping America safe through proactively fighting the war on terror and completing the mission in Iraq has distinguished him in the United States Senate. His steady conviction that only strict constructionists are fit to judge is unwavering. Senator McCain is legendary for his willingness to reach across the aisle to accomplish good for America.
Senator John McCain is a true American hero, and the HRC looks forward to fervently supporting him in his campaign to win the presidency in 2008.
